“Jill understands the unique challenges of terrace living, where space and storage are at a premium, and we were constantly surprised by the innovative and imaginative approach she brought to this project. We couldn’t be happier.”
Ben & Sarah, Paddington Terrace
At Paddington Terrace we experienced the fruits of working with clients open to the creative use of material and a marriage between contemporary tastes and celebrated heritage features. The Victorian kitchen’s petite size was maximised with a renovation to incorporate smart storage and the clean lines of integrated appliances, suiting the couple’s culinary inclinations. The kitchen’s size allowed for the use of the finest materials, with the resulting kitchen features slabs of gorgeous Bianco Carrera marble, classical tapware and designer lighting.
The formerly dark living spaces got a light injection with crisp white walls and a custom arched steel frame door equipped to suit the family dog. Danish designed lighting futher assist to create a relaxing ambiance. Upstairs the home’s main bathroom is a luxurious retreat with porcelain and brass lighting, handmade wall tiles, bronze tapware and soft grey terrazzo floor and feature walls.
The bathroom was completely reconfigured to allow for an oversized vanity with concealed power points, a shower and separate bath, as well as the couple’s laundry.
As with many classic Victorian homes, storage needed to be increased to suit the modern inhabitants, which was accomplished by designing freestanding wardrobes for the main bedroom, intended to disappear into the surrounding walls as to not overwhelm the room’s original fireplace. The resulting home is the perfect balance of contemporary luxury and heritage romanticism.
