Alexander Street

A tired-looking federation home in the picturesque surrounds of Manly received a sophisticated redesign to suit the needs of our client, a downsizing family with three grown children. Having left their expansive home in Seaforth for beachside living, our client purchased a Federation house, which had been left wanting after a renovation in the early 2000s.

Our efforts focused on celebrating and restoring period features and pairing them with contemporary art and furnishings. We gave the home a complete refresh; new colours throughout, custom furnishings and bespoke window treatments. Another key component of the project was integrating the changing needs of their three children.

We created a study, perfect for their youngest who was completing their HSC, and a loft space for their two older children who were transitioning from their family home. We focussed on quality pieces that will stand the test of time, and that sit seamlessly within the home’s sophisticated, yet relaxed setting.

Our favourite result of the project is the stunning conversion of the existing pea-green rendered fireplace into a stone-clad gas fireplace – a dramatic before and after transformation which has become the hub of the home and is much loved by the whole family.

“Jill’s ideas were all truly amazing and it was a joy to see the gorgeous colours, textures, fittings and fixtures that she presented meet our brief. Jill sourced beautiful furnishings and introduced new colours that worked perfectly to bring tired rooms to life.
Jill’s ability and passion for beautiful design combined with her attention to every tiny detail and professional project management, all contributed to a very successful project.”
