Our Queenscliff Project was a really exciting interior design project to take on, as our client was very open to doing something different with the renovation! He wanted to infuse the space with personality and soul, while still maintaining appeal to future buyers. Highlights of the finished renovation include one of a kind vintage pieces and custom joinery.
So what did we do?
We got the call mere hours after the hammer hit and the property was won!
Our initial interior walk through revealed a very builder’s basic home. Creamy white walls, inexpensive light fittings, and mirrored sliding wardrobes were found throughout. The kitchen joinery from the 1970s was falling apart and not adequate for a contemporary kitchen space!
To top off the state of the apartment, our client was also moving in without a single piece of furniture! So we needed to come up with a new layout, colour scheme and interior design concept asap to facilitate some quick turnaround furniture deliveries. To hold himself over until the new pieces arrived, he used his folding camping chairs and an old family armchair. It was quite a sight during the build!
Flash forward six months and the apartment is an absolutely lovely home to our client and a perfect entertaining space for his friends and family. Our client has shared that the new kitchen and the custom outdoor entertaining area are his favourite spaces in the home. We also love the dark master bedroom and open wardrobe! Jillian Dinkel Designs are currently working on the interior design of the apartment’s bathroom and looking forward to that reveal next!
